Love has no concept of patience. It is instantaneous and powerful. It bursts, it pours, it emerges without any effort like buds in Spring. It has no bounds. It is chaotic, it is wind, it is wet and oozes and touches everything. But love can give space where space is required. It can create distance and retreat to the sky to await the next call. Love listens. Love sees. Love waits.

I first met you in the summer of 1976. You smelled of auto paint fumes, your hands were blacked and occasionally you hid M&Ms in the pocket of your boiler suit to surprise me. Greeting me with much joy, you saw me with a fatherly love unmatched by another.
